A date for your diary.....

April 17th 2010 will be the date for our pantomime horse race. We have, in the past, managed to raise in excess of £4500 for St Catherine's Hospice on this day. This can not be achieved without your help and support. I am well aware of the pressures on all our pockets at the moment and probably for some months to come but if anyone would like to donate raffle prizes, auction items or buy advertising space in our programme I would very much like to hear from you.


A TRIP TO DARK STAR

Thank you to Paul and James from the new Dark Star Brewery in Partridge Green, we felt most honoured to be  invited on the first ever brewery tour of the new site.
We had a very splendid day starting with an excellent breakfast at the Star cafe 2 minutes walk from the brewery, if you have a brewery trip planned this start is to be recommended!
We were welcomed to this new and impressive brewery by Paul who gave us the tour and answered all our questions and James who kept our glasses topped up with some of those most excellent Dark Star brews.
No one could fail to be impressed by what the people at Dark Star have achieved and we all wish them well at this new site with many more years of brewing fine ales for us.
We then returned to the Oak for some bread and English cheese to steady ourselves before the return home to our families!
Heritage coaches were most efficient and are based right beside the brewery, they were also very reasonably priced and worth considering if you have a trip planned.

Tug-o-War

The Royal Oak also has a Tug-o-War team. We pull at several events throughout the year including one event in Devon in August. Training starts on Sunday 24th January and will move to a Tuesday once the dayligght hours increase.
