Lager Locals BAN the closet lager drinking locals...I'm shocked & horified that I know, talk & drink with them...What is to be done?
It's almost as bad as sharing the bar with one of the BITE knobs 'sussexfox','wealdman',wolfdog','sillysam',or 'dolphox'.
No offence to the likes og 'TWG',Cider_Al','Big_Gee','fullbelly' or 'hopbitch' though. |

We can lay claim to the WORLD CHAMPION salad eater though! More when I get home. |

You've been Tango'd Anybody seen my Fanta bottle I lost it last weekend and was planning on getting my 3d deposit back on it! I came back for it & some bugger had either nicked it or tidyed it up.
I surpose it's gone in that Grumpy blokes collection!

Carbon Footprint of Beer The Carbon Footprint of Beer:
300g CO2e: locally brewed cask ale at the pub
500g CO2e: local bottled beer from a shop or foreign beer in a pub
900g CO2e: bottled beer from the shop, extensively transported.
Just goes to prove that we should all be drinking Surrey Hills & Dark Star.

Also you'll be pleased to know the riding a bicycle is 10 times more carbon efficiant than driving your car!!!
So next time you see me or the BeerBabe buy us a local beer or cider for saving the planet for you all.

Our Real Local It won't come as a surprise to many of you to realise the Royal Oak is a 'real local pub' the type of local that most pub goers will never ever in the drinking lives come across.
I've known this for some time now myself, for although I enjoy many other pubs, landlords and their beers there is nowhere, apart from my house where I truely feel at home.
It was brought home to me even more today when learning of whilst talking to them of the death Trish & (Russ's) brother-in-law and sister in the space of 24 hours on their 40th wedding anniversary. A tragady for which we are truely sorry.
But then a hour later almost as if to redress the balance of life in walks Martin & Em with little Jasmine Silver born at 19.30 the night before and less than one day old visiting her local for the very first time. How wonderful is that?

Well, not after "Royal Oak", anyway |

knowing your place I am delighted that I am now in such good company, second is what I do best and now Sarah is there with me!

But hey! There are so many great milds about, we will try to get through as many as we can throughout May........Hammerpot,1648,Arundel,Dark Star, that funny little brewery in the hills of Surrey somewhere(although they don't seem to do mild in May!)even Sarah may make a guest appearance! |

Make mine mild by George, you've done it: no comments please about Sara coming second:

The 3 Bs Sara,
Sorry to read that you have discovered that Mr Grumpys mother lives next door, does explain a few things though.
On a lighter note, we came across this contraption recently and thought you might be interested; http://bit.ly/aMxlHu
We also believe you have a couple of very keen cyclists that drink and the pub, we believe their names are BeerBiker & BeerBabe,do you know them?
Our thoughts are that they could be in charge of this little venture, what do you think? We do have one slight reservation though, and that is how of the beer will be left for sale by the time they reach the venue they are heading to!!!
We look forward to hearing your responce, one thing is for sure we don't think this is one for Clive!!! |
|
Badger Boy deceased We too are truly sorry to hear of Badger Boy's demise, he was probably the only good thing to come out of blanford, we are pleased to hear that he will not be totally wasted and trust the badger glue will taste better than the first gold, may we order some now?
In our defence your trainer must hold some of the blame, were she to have read the small print at the bottom of the entry form she would have indeed seen that there were to be a few small fences.
If you have no further use for the horse box I wonder if it could be converted into CAMRA so that Clive can get out and about in this fine weather. |
|
Our horse Sara,
Whilst we're pleased with how much you appear to have made for St Catherines Hospice we really are gutted that 'Badger Boy' had to be destroyed after falling at the 1st in his race.
We must say we are extremely disappointed in you for not letting our trainer Nes know that there were fences! 'Badger Boy' was a flat horse and a very good one at that, maybe not as good as our First Gold but never the less a good horse.
One good thing to come out of it is that Hall & Woodhouse are now in the glue business if you're interested please give us a call.
At least the horse box was a little lighter on the way back to Blandford.

Horse box parking Sara,
Please don't forget to reserve us a prime parking spot for the horse box.
'Badger Boy' had a good workout this morning and is looking pretty special, a bit like our First Gold! Talking of which,we'll try and bring a couple of casks with us then you can get that nasty Ranmore off.
If our boy wins we'll treat you to a cask of 'Fursty Ferret' as well.
Looking forward to the weekend.

Exciting New! WOW,
Sara,We have to say we are really excited about our new venture with you, and we tell you when you brew as good a beers as we do it takes a lot to get us excited!
Just to give you the 'heads up' in case you see the planning application before we get down to see you. We are planning to turn the place over the road into a gourmet, real ale, bed & breakfast spa! How about that then?
We are going to call it the 'Badger Sett',exciting isn't it?
The plan is to employ some of the 'Badgers' tug-o-war team to add some attmosphere to the place. On the girls side Em, George, Sash and Venessa should do to keep the guests comfortable. We will have a 'warming up' kitchin where the food you prepare in the Royal Oak will be reheated and served by Trevor in full Chef gear, he should really look the part!
The local council has been contacted with a view to putting in one of those nice sounding 'pelican crossings' to help you cross the busy road safely with the food and beer deliveries.
The spa side of things is proving difficult, at this time we still haven't located the thermo sulpher vent which we know is in the area, when the wind is in the correct direction you can detect it. In the mean time we will get in some hottubs and gym equipement, this will be run by Rich, he should keep the ladys happy!
Clive will be needed for the large neon sign we have planned, don't worry although very bright it will be pointing in the opposite direction, aimed at the large amount of passing trade a couple of thousand feet away we have.
We were thinking of using Jonathan as our 'meet & greet' man, what do you think? Anybody else you think we should employ? What positions?
Oh last thing the car park design will be done by that nice Mr Moyse, you know wide & long parking spaces making parking easy.
Cheers for now.

Moving Forward Hi Sara
Sorry it's been a while but we've been rather busy down here in Blandford. Had to tweek some of the old King & Barnes receipes they had a little to much flavour for our customers to stomach!
Not sure about that Mustafa Nuther,we think if there is to be any parading on a boat then he should be at the helm of a very long one way trip.
We do also understand your problems with 'lamentable pints of beer from the south west' and we have a solution for that - STOP going so far south west, all you need to do is stop off here in Blandford. Its half the distance and our beers are far superior. In the long term we would be prepared to deliver to you, hopefully that allow you more time to work on our next venture, the Pick Your Own Fruit & Veg from the converted car park.
Inbetween tweeking the K&B beers we have been thinking hard about the ex-ice cream van idea and we think we've cracked it. It is to be called ' CLIVES AUTOMATED MOBILE REAL ALES' or CAMRA for short! We believe it will sound strangely familiar to your customers.
We are however disappointed to find out that CAMRAs first deployment in Rusper has been cancelled,we were looking forward to seeing the figures.
Is there any truth in the rumour that the venue for the 'Badgers' Tug-o-war' teams first battle of the year has been changed? Please let us know as we would hate to turn up to the wrong venue, its a long way from Blandford you know.
Be in touch.

Moving forward Hi Sara,
you could use Ollie's boat as advertising? It could be the Royal Oak Ale Revival Yacht (ROARY)? Someone could take it up and down the Wey and Arun canal with appropriate decorations to advertise?
On the subject of the badger boys: please be aware they indulge in the practise of badgerbating, which may explain the poor eyesight, if not the damage to their taste buds.
Yours, etc |
|
Moving forward Hi Badger Boys,
I have been giving a lot of thought to the problem of a name (between pouring lamentable pints of beer from the south west). I think your idea is a good one and may help us in future rounds of various pub competitions, it would be good to advertise not only our excellent pub but also your award winning ales to a wider market and I think customers of the Ali Raj could be of particular benefit to us.
I wondered about 'the real ale sett' but thought that might be slightly misleading, that led to the 'beer sett' but again doesn't really advertise the Oak.Rockabye Solar Kola might do it, it is an anagramme and advertises us both well, the only problem being it is hard enough to work out sober let alone.............
Keep in touch |
|
Moving forward Sara,
Further to our conversations,we have ordered one of these for you http://bit.ly/a2TMmj .We feel it would be a good business oppurtunity for us both.It should be taken to all events that the 'Badgers' tug o war team are competing at.
Also we think it would be good to get that Clive out in it on his quieter days.Maybe he could park up in Horsham and pick up a few sales that way. Or even that nice lay-by in Newdigate you know by the Ali Raj Indian.
Any thoughts on what we might call it?
We'll be in touch soon.

Moving forward Hi Sara,
an excellent idea. You could also change part of the garden to be a brock garden? And additional seating outside for folk to sett around on?
